Resources on Healthcare Reform
Health Care Reform Task Force - Colorado Nurses for Access to Health Care for All (CNAHCA) is a Colorado Nurses Association Task Force that provides leadership in Colorado to promote a health care delivery system in Colorado and/or the United States that provides access to health care for all.
Why is access to health care important to Colorado nurses? - 17% of Coloradans lack health insurance and 78% of these are working adults.
(Colorado Health Institute) - One in five American families with children have at least one uninsured member.
- The uninsured have poorer health and shortened lives.
- Uninsurance is estimated to cost between $65 and $130 billion annually.

Many models for health care reform have been proposed. CNAHCA has prepared a table Health Care Delivery Models that describes each model, its proponents, and its limitations.
In our Scenarios for Change document, several approaches to reform have been described. Click to see these two documents.
The 2005 Colorado Nurses Association. House of Delegates voted to endorse a single-payer universal health care system for the United States. A single-payer system provides private health care to all persons with public funding.
